The Electronic Entertainment Expo has been cancelled for this year due to the ongoing corona virus pandemic that is threatening large parts of the US this comes after many health experts are concerned that a large gathering of people could further aid the spreading of the virus.
E3 has been around from 1995 and in those years it has firmly established its importance not only to the gaming industry but also to the technology space as it put fans of various gaming and tech brands front and center with the people that create the things they love. The conference influence however has been whining as of late as big hitters like Sony announced earlier this year that they would not be present at the E3 that was planned for this year .This followed the recent success of stand alone shows like Nintendo's Connect.

Other heavy hitter like Microsoft also have followed Sony and Nintendo and established their own expo through which to showcase their work all this suggest that E3 has for some time been losing its luster. The final nail in the coffin of E3 was hammered in once the Game Awards host Geoff Keighley announced that that he would not attend the now cancelled conference.
